Common Questions
Which TV mounting option is cheapest?
Cost depends on wall type, TV size, bracket choice and cable management — not a fixed wall-type ranking. Plasterboard installs without specialist fixings tend to be quicker; brick or concrete adds drilling time and heavier-duty fixings. See our pricing page for the current tier breakdown and factors.
Should I hire a pro or do it myself?
For TVs under 50″ on a stud wall, careful DIY is feasible if you have a stud finder and a decent drill. For 55″+ TVs, plasterboard without studs, brick/concrete walls, or any cable hiding, a professional install pays for itself — both in safety and in the time saved. The full DIY-vs-pro comparison covers cost, risk, time and insurance.
What wall type is best for TV mounting?
Brick or concrete are the most forgiving — masonry anchors handle a wide range of TV sizes. Plasterboard is the most common in UK homes; with the right cavity fixings or by anchoring into studs it offers comparable safety once the wall, TV weight and bracket are assessed together. Chimney breast is a special case — see the chimney-breast comparison.
Can I hide cables on every wall type?
Behind-the-wall cable hiding works on plasterboard (with a back-box system). On solid walls (brick, concrete, chimney breast) we use surface trunking — a slim white PVC channel that paints over to match the wall.
