Bracket Types

Bracket Types We Install

Each bracket type has a different range of movement and sits a different distance from the wall. We advise on the right option for your room and TV as part of every TV wall mounting visit — no decision needed in advance.

Flat / Fixed

No movement25–45 mm from wall

The TV sits flush and tight against the wall. The most minimal look — no visible arm or mechanism. Easiest for cable management as cables sit neatly behind the TV.

Best for: Bedrooms, dedicated TV walls, and rooms where you always watch from one fixed position.

Tilt

Tilts up/down (typically 10–15°)40–80 mm from wall

Tilts the screen downward to reduce glare and improve viewing angles when the TV is mounted higher than seated eye level. Sits close to the wall — almost as neat as a flat bracket.

Best for: Above a fireplace, high wall positions, bright rooms with ceiling light glare.

Swivel / Articulating

Rotates left/right60–150 mm from wall

Swings left and right on an arm so you can adjust the viewing angle from different positions in the room. The arm stays relatively compact against the wall when not in use.

Best for: Open-plan living areas, L-shaped rooms, and walls at an angle to your seating.

Full Motion

Extends, tilts, and swivels50–600 mm from wall

Extends away from the wall on an articulating arm, tilts up and down, and rotates left and right. Maximum flexibility — the arm retracts flat when not in use.

Best for: Kitchens, bedrooms (watching from bed), corner walls, and rooms with multiple seating positions.

Heavier TVs (55"+) require a solid brick, concrete, or stud-located wall for a full motion bracket.

VESA Standards

VESA Standards Guide

VESA defines the pattern of the four mounting holes on the back of your TV, measured in millimetres — e.g. 400×400. Every bracket is rated for specific VESA patterns. We always verify compatibility before installation.

TV SizeTypical VESA Pattern
Up to 32"75×75 · 100×100
32"–43"200×100 · 200×200
43"–55"300×300 · 400×200
55"–65"400×400
65"–75"600×400
75"+800×400 · 900×600

Not sure of your TV’s VESA pattern? Check the back of the TV, the manual, or the manufacturer’s website. We check it for you before the installation begins.

Bracket Supply

We Supply or Fit Your Own

Ask for a bracket when you book

Tell us your TV size, wall type, and what you want to do with it — we bring an appropriate bracket on the day. No need to research bracket types or check VESA compatibility yourself.

Bracket cost is itemised in your quote. See pricing.

You supply the bracket

Already bought one? We’re happy to install it. We’ll verify VESA compatibility and confirm the bracket is rated for your wall type before we start. If there’s an issue, we’ll advise you.

Customer-supplied bracket is reflected in your quote.

Buy from the van on the day

If your own bracket turns out to be wrong VESA, under-rated, or unsuitable for your wall, you can buy the correct one from our van on the spot. We carry a full range so your TV wall mounting still happens in the same visit.

Same itemised pricing — added on the day if needed.

Re-use an existing bracket

Already have a bracket on the wall from a previous TV? If it is suitable for your new TV’s VESA pattern and weight rating, we can re-use it. We check both before starting and let you know if a replacement is needed.

Mention this when you get your quote.

Common Questions

Bracket Installation FAQ

Either works — there are three options. You can add a bracket to your booking and we bring an appropriate one on the day; you can supply your own and we install it; or, if your bracket turns out to be wrong (VESA mismatch, weight rating, wall incompatibility), you can buy the correct one from our van on the day. The bracket fit is part of the overall install — most TV mounts finish in 45–90 minutes including bracket and TV.
VESA is the standard that defines the spacing of the four mounting holes on the back of your TV (e.g. 400×400mm). Brackets are rated for specific VESA patterns and the bracket must match your TV. We check VESA compatibility before sourcing or bringing a bracket so the right kit arrives with us on the day.
A tilt bracket is the most practical choice for TV mounting above a fireplace. It angles the screen downward toward your eye level, reducing neck strain and glare. For very high positions, a full motion bracket gives even more control over the viewing angle.
In most cases, yes. Flat and tilt brackets can be safely installed on plasterboard using specialist cavity fixings sized to your TV's loaded weight. Full motion brackets on plasterboard typically need a stud or a specialist multi-fixing system due to the lever force when the arm is extended. Suitability is confirmed against the wall on the day. See our plasterboard mounting guide for the full breakdown.
A full motion bracket uses the same number of fixings as other bracket types, but the fixings need to be rated for higher loads because the extended arm creates leverage. We pick the correct fixings for your wall type and TV weight. The visible hole pattern behind the bracket is comparable across bracket types.
Yes. Bring the bracket and we will check it is compatible with your TV's VESA pattern and suitable for your wall type before we install it. If there is an issue we will let you know and advise on the alternative.
TV bracket installation is included in our base price — from £100. If you need us to supply the bracket, we add £30–£50 depending on the bracket type (flat, tilt, full-motion). See /pricing.
