Property Types

Woodford and South Woodford are established, leafy suburban areas with a housing stock that skews larger than most of east London. Interwar detached and semi-detached houses — built predominantly in the 1930s — are the dominant property type, often on generous plots with large living rooms. Woodford Green has some late Victorian and Edwardian housing closer to the high road. South Woodford's George Lane and surrounding streets have a mix of interwar semis and some early post-war houses. There are also some newer apartment developments near South Woodford tube station. The area's relative prosperity means many properties have had significant internal work done, including modern extensions and large-screen TV installations.

Common Wall Types

The predominant wall type in Woodford and South Woodford is interwar cavity brick — two skins of brick separated by a cavity, common in 1930s construction. Both skins are solid and suitable for TV mounting with standard masonry fixings. Victorian properties in the older parts of Woodford Green have single-skin solid brick. Internal partition walls in these larger homes are often plasterboard on timber stud, or lath-and-plaster in pre-war builds. Newer flats near South Woodford tube use metal stud plasterboard throughout. We are experienced with all of these construction types.
