We fit TV wall mounts every day across London and the South East, so we have strong views on which brackets are reliable and which are not. This guide covers the five main bracket types, what each is best for, and specific picks we use or recommend in 2026. We include both customer-supplied and installer-supplied options.
Which bracket guide should you read?
You are on the right page if you want specific product picks. To decide which type of bracket suits your room first, read swivel vs tilt vs fixed. For a deep dive on articulating brackets specifically, see the full motion bracket guide.
The five types of TV wall mount bracket
Before recommending specific models, it helps to understand what each bracket type actually does — because the wrong bracket for your situation is a bigger problem than the wrong brand.
| Type | Movement | Wall gap | Best for | Typical price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed / flat | None | 20–40mm | One-position rooms, clean look | £15–£40 |
| Tilting | Tilt ±10–15° | 25–50mm | TVs mounted slightly high (above fireplace) | £20–£60 |
| Full motion / articulating | Tilt + swivel + extend | 60–450mm (extended) | Multi-angle viewing, corner rooms | £35–£120 |
| Super slim / low-profile | None or minimal tilt | 5–20mm | Gallery-look, premium finish | £40–£100 |
| No-gap / flush (Samsung) | None | 0–5mm | Samsung Frame TV specifically | £80–£150 |
Best fixed bracket: Vogel's WALL 3245
Vogel's is a Dutch brand that has been making TV brackets since the 1980s. Their WALL 3245 covers 40–77 inch TVs with VESA up to 600×400, rated to 30kg. The construction is heavy gauge steel — significantly more substantial than cheaper brackets of the same price point. The rear cable management channel keeps cables tidy behind the TV.
Why we like it: Consistent quality across batches, clear installation instructions, and a 10-year guarantee. At around £35–£45, it is not the cheapest fixed bracket but it is the most reliable.
Who it is for: Any standard living room or bedroom installation where the TV will always face the same direction.
Best tilting bracket: Mounting Dream MD2413
The Mounting Dream MD2413 covers 37–70 inch TVs, VESA up to 600×400, rated to 36kg. It offers ±15° tilt, which is enough to compensate for a TV that is 15–20cm above the ideal viewing height. The tilt lock is simple and reliable.
Why we like it: The tilt range is useful (some cheap tilt brackets only offer ±5°, which is not enough to matter). Easy to install and the tilt stays where you set it without creeping.
Who it is for: TVs mounted above a fireplace surround or otherwise higher than the ideal 105cm centre height. Also bedrooms where the TV is mounted on the wall opposite the bed at a higher position. See our above-fireplace guide for why tilt matters.
Best full motion bracket: Vogel's NEXT 7345
The NEXT 7345 is a full-motion articulating arm for 40–77 inch TVs, rated to 30kg, with VESA up to 600×400. It extends 454mm from the wall, tilts ±20°, and swivels 120° left and right. The arm folds flat and locks for storage.
Why we like it: Full motion brackets are the most complex to install correctly — they need to be positioned precisely so the TV does not scrape the wall when folded. The NEXT 7345 has a well-designed folding mechanism and a genuine cable management conduit through the arm. Cheaper arms have cables running loose outside the arm, which looks untidy and can get caught.
Who it is for: Open-plan rooms where you view from multiple positions, corner installations, or rooms where the sofa furniture layout means the TV needs to angle. Also useful for gaming setups where you want the TV to pull toward you.
Note on installation: Full motion brackets must be fixed into studs or use high-rated cavity fixings on plasterboard. The extended arm creates significant leverage on the fixings. We assess the wall carefully before installing a full motion bracket. See our plasterboard mounting guide.
Best slim / low-profile bracket: Perlesmith PSMFK1
The Perlesmith PSMFK1 is a slim profile bracket that sits the TV just 13mm from the wall — closer to a picture than a conventional bracket. It covers 37–80 inch TVs, VESA up to 800×400, rated to 60kg. Importantly, it covers larger VESA patterns (800×400) than most similarly priced brackets.
Why we like it: At around £25–£35, the build quality is impressive. The slim profile genuinely makes a visual difference in rooms where you want the TV to look architectural rather than functional. The large VESA coverage means it works on almost any TV.
Who it is for: Living rooms with a gallery or contemporary aesthetic, or anyone who wants the TV to sit as flush as possible without investing in a Samsung No-Gap mount.
Samsung Frame TV: Samsung No-Gap Wall Mount
The Samsung Frame TV is designed to look like a framed artwork on the wall. The only bracket that achieves this properly is Samsung's own No-Gap Wall Mount (WMN-M11E or WMN-M23E depending on year). This places the Frame TV 0–5mm from the wall, completely flush, with cable management through the bracket body.
Third-party slim brackets will leave a visible gap. The No-Gap is the only bracket that makes the Frame look as Samsung intended.
We fit the Samsung No-Gap as a specialist service. See our Samsung Frame TV installation page for what is involved and pricing.
What about cheap brackets from Amazon?
There are hundreds of brackets on Amazon from brands with no presence outside a single listing. Most are safe — the actual bracket design is standard and the steel is adequate for lighter TVs. The risks are:
- Inconsistent VESA coverage — the stated compatibility range sometimes does not match the physical spacer options included in the box.
- Low-quality hardware — M6 bolts that are slightly too short for your TV's thread depth, or washers that crush rather than grip.
- No support — if the bracket is missing parts or the instructions are wrong, there is nobody to call.
For a 32–55 inch TV on a standard wall, a budget bracket from Amazon is fine if you verify the VESA compatibility and check the load rating against your TV weight. For larger TVs (65"+), plasterboard walls, or above-fireplace installs, we recommend investing in a named brand.
Do you need to supply a bracket?
When you book with us, you can either supply your own bracket or ask us to supply one. We carry a range of fixed, tilting, and full motion brackets suitable for most setups. If you have a specific bracket in mind, let us know when booking and we will confirm it is suitable for your wall type and TV. We do not charge a premium for installing a customer-supplied bracket. FAQ
What is the difference between a fixed and a full motion bracket?+
A fixed (flat) bracket holds the TV flush to the wall with no movement. A full motion bracket has an articulating arm that lets you pull the TV away from the wall and swivel it left, right, and tilt it up or down. Fixed brackets look the best and are the most secure; full motion gives the most flexibility for viewing from different positions.
Do I need to supply my own bracket or do you provide one?+
We can supply and fit a bracket as part of the installation — this is usually the easiest option, as we know exactly which bracket suits your TV size, weight, wall type, and room layout. Alternatively, you can supply your own bracket and we will install it. Both options are available. See our pricing page for bracket supply prices.
What VESA pattern does my TV need?+
VESA is the spacing of the four mounting holes on the back of your TV, measured in mm (e.g., 400×200, 600×400). You can find the VESA pattern in your TV manual or by measuring the holes yourself. Most brackets cover a range of VESA patterns — check the bracket specification against your TV before purchasing.
Are cheap brackets from Amazon safe?+
Most budget brackets from reputable brands (Perlesmith, Mounting Dream, Vogel's) are safe for standard residential use. The risk with very cheap unknown-brand brackets is inconsistent steel quality and poorly rated bolts. We torque test our fixings and prefer brackets rated well above the TV weight. If you buy your own bracket, buy from a brand with clear load ratings and a VESA compatibility chart.
What bracket do you recommend for a Samsung Frame TV?+
The Samsung Frame TV uses Samsung's own No-Gap Wall Mount (WMN-M11E or WMN-M23E depending on the model year). This is the only bracket that places the Frame perfectly flush against the wall, simulating a framed picture. Other slim-profile brackets will leave a gap. If you’d like the Samsung No-Gap Wall Mount fitted, we’ll add the right size to your quote and bring it on the day; if you’d rather supply your own, we’ll fit it — see our Samsung Frame installation page.
