TV Mounting on a Concrete Wall
Concrete walls are common in new-build flats, apartments, and commercial spaces — and they are perfectly suitable for TV mounting when done with the right tools. We use SDS hammer drills, rebar scanners, and sleeve anchors rated for the job. Part of our full TV wall mounting service across London.
Many installers will not touch concrete. We do — backed by City & Guilds Level 3 qualification, rebar scanning before every drill, and sleeve-anchor pull-out ratings calculated against the TV’s loaded weight.
The Challenge
Why Concrete Needs Specialist Equipment
Concrete is not difficult — it just requires the right tools and technique. Without them, you risk a failed installation.
Hardest material to drill accurately
Concrete — especially reinforced concrete in modern apartment blocks — can be extremely hard. Using the wrong drill or wrong bit will overheat, damage fixings, and produce an oversized hole that holds nothing securely.
Rebar can be hidden anywhere
Reinforced concrete contains steel rebar that you cannot see from the surface. Hitting rebar mid-drill can shatter masonry bits, damage the drill, and leave an unusable hole in exactly the wrong position.
Sleeve anchors must be correctly set
Unlike brick rawl plugs, concrete sleeve anchors must be hammered to precise depth and torqued correctly to expand fully. Under-tightened anchors will pull out under load. The installation technique matters as much as the fixing itself.
Our Methods
How We Tackle Every Concrete Wall
SDS Rotary Hammer Drill
We use a professional-grade SDS rotary hammer drill with carbide multi-purpose masonry bits. This combination cuts clean, accurate holes in any concrete type without overheating or enlarging the fixing points.
Rebar & Cable Detection
Before drilling, we scan the concrete with a professional multi-detector that identifies steel reinforcement, cables, and pipes. Fixing points are selected to avoid all detected obstacles.
Sleeve Anchors & Chemical Fixings
For standard concrete we use M8/M10 sleeve anchors. For very dense or smooth concrete where mechanical anchors may not grip fully, we use chemical resin anchors — a stronger option for difficult concrete substrates, confirmed against the wall on the day.
Load Testing Before Leaving
Before hanging the TV, we apply a test load to the bracket — pushing and pulling to verify the fixings are properly seated and the bracket is solid. Any movement, we address it before mounting the TV.

Common Questions
Concrete Wall TV Mounting FAQ
Can you mount a TV on a concrete wall?
Yes. Concrete is one of the strongest wall surfaces for TV mounting — it can hold far more weight than plasterboard or even brick. The challenge is drilling it correctly. We use professional SDS hammer drills with carbide-tipped masonry bits and heavy-duty sleeve anchors rated for the job.
What fixings do you use for concrete walls?
We use M8 or M10 sleeve anchors (also called expansion anchors) set into the concrete. These expand as the bolt is tightened and lock into the concrete with very high shear strength. For particularly hard concrete we may use chemical anchors — a resin that bonds the fixing permanently into the wall.
Is there a risk of hitting rebar when drilling into concrete?
Yes, in reinforced concrete there is always the possibility of rebar. We use a multi-scanner tool that detects metal reinforcement before drilling. If rebar is detected at a proposed fixing point, we relocate the drill position. We never drill blind into concrete.
How long does it take to mount a TV on a concrete wall?
Concrete takes longer to drill than brick or plasterboard, so a concrete install usually sits at the longer end of the typical 45–90 minute range — and complex jobs may take more. We do not rush the drilling phase: forcing through concrete too quickly causes fixings to seat poorly.
Do you cover new build flats with concrete walls?
Yes. New build concrete walls — particularly in apartment blocks built after 2000 — are common in our service area. We carry the SDS kit and concrete anchors needed, and concrete-wall installs in new-build flats are a regular job for us across London and Essex.
Can cables be hidden through a concrete wall?
Behind-wall cable hiding is only offered on plasterboard. On concrete walls we use surface trunking — neat white PVC channel that paints over to match the wall. We can advise on the cleanest layout for your room on the day.
How much does TV mounting on a concrete wall cost?
Concrete-wall TV mounting starts from £100 and most installs fall in our Standard tier (from £150). Concrete requires hammer-drilling and proper masonry anchors but the price is unchanged. Cable hiding inside the wall isn't possible on solid concrete; surface trunking is from £25. See /pricing.
TV Mounting on Brick
Brick wall instead? Same specialist service — SDS drilling, heavy-duty rawl plugs, cable scanning.
Cable Management
Surface trunking is the neatest cable solution for concrete walls — we can add this to any installation.
Bracket Installation
Flat, tilt, swivel, or full motion brackets — the right one for your concrete wall and TV size.
