TV Mounting Without Drilling
If you cannot drill — or choose not to — there are no-drill options worth considering, but they are exceptional scenarios, not the default. Adhesive mounting does not work on every wall — the surface, TV weight, and room conditions all decide whether it’s viable. The freestanding column is the only no-drill option that works on any wall. Part of our full TV wall mounting service across London.
Adhesive is not universal:textured walls, wallpaper, exposed brick, pebbledash, freshly painted surfaces, and porous plaster all reduce or eliminate bond strength. We assess your wall before committing — if adhesive is not viable, we’ll say so and route you to a freestanding column or permission-based minimal drilling instead. City & Guilds Level 3 trained.
The Reality
No-Drill Is Not One-Size-Fits-All
Adhesive mounting depends on surface, weight, and condition. It works on a narrow band of walls and TV sizes. We tell you upfront whether your scope is genuinely viable — or whether a freestanding column or permission-based drilling is the safer call.
Adhesive does not work on every wall
Textured walls, exposed brick, wallpaper, pebbledash, freshly painted surfaces, and porous plaster all reduce or eliminate adhesive bond strength. On these surfaces adhesive is not a viable option — the bond fails, often within weeks, and the TV comes down with the surface paint or wallpaper attached. If your wall falls in this category, the freestanding column is the only no-drill route, or permission-based minimal drilling.
No-drill mounts have real weight limits
Adhesive mounts typically hold 15–30kg maximum. A 55-inch TV weighs 18–25kg; a 65-inch is 25–35kg — already over the safe adhesive ceiling. Anything 65"+ should not be on adhesive at all. The options that genuinely hold heavier TVs cost more and still require perfectly smooth, fully cured painted surfaces. We are honest about what adhesive can and cannot do before any installation.
Rental restrictions are often more flexible than people think
Most standard AST tenancy agreements permit minor works with landlord permission. Two 6mm holes are reversible in the practical sense — filled and touched up cleanly on leaving. Many landlords approve when asked with a clear explanation of what the work involves. We can help you frame that request — it is by far the most reliable route for any TV size on any wall type, but always confirm in writing first.

How We Work
Each Solution, Explained
Freestanding TV Column
A floor-standing column with a weighted steel base holds the TV in a wall-mounted position with no wall contact. Adjustable height and tilt. Looks close to a wall mount at normal viewing distance. Either works on the column itself — you can supply your own (we fit it and pay labour only) or tell us when you book and we will source one rated for your TV. Includes anti-tip cable anchoring to a skirting board.
High-Load Adhesive Mount
Industrial adhesive mounts from specialist manufacturers are typically rated up to around 30kg on a suitable smooth surface — exact load and cure time depend on the specific product. We clean and prepare the surface, apply the adhesive system across multiple anchor points, and allow the manufacturer's cure time before the TV is attached. Not suitable for textured, wallpapered, or freshly painted surfaces.
Permission-Based Minimal Drilling
For renters with written landlord permission, two 6mm holes filled professionally on completion is usually the most reliable solution. The TV is fully wall-mounted; the right bracket type and TV size are confirmed against the wall on the day. We fill and touch up the holes when we remove the bracket — they are difficult to spot once finished. This is what we recommend when permission is given.

Common Questions
No-Drill TV Mounting FAQ
Will adhesive mounting work on my wall?
Adhesive only works on a narrow band of wall surfaces. It is viable on smooth, clean, fully cured painted plasterboard or solid wall — that is the safe scope. It does not work on textured walls, woodchip or vinyl wallpaper, exposed brick, pebbledash, freshly painted surfaces (paint needs roughly 4 weeks to cure fully), porous plaster, or anything painted with chalky / matt-only emulsion. We assess your wall before committing — if your surface is on the not-viable list, we will say so and route you to a freestanding column or, if you can get landlord permission, two-hole minimal drilling. Adhesive is the exception, not the default.
Can adhesive mounts hold a 55-inch TV?
A 55-inch TV weighs 18–25kg depending on model. High-load adhesive mounts from specialist brands can hold up to 30kg on suitable surfaces — smooth, clean, and painted with fully cured paint. The surface condition is critical: textured walls, wallpaper, freshly painted walls, and porous surfaces all reduce bond strength significantly. For TVs above 55-inch we do not recommend adhesive at any wall type — go with a freestanding column or minimal drilling. We assess the surface before committing to any adhesive installation.
What damage does minimal drilling actually cause?
A standard TV bracket requires two or four 6mm fixing holes — roughly the diameter of a pencil. When filled with the correct filler and touched up with matching paint, the result is generally hard to spot. We supply and apply filler before leaving. The drilling itself is reversible in the practical sense — though whether it counts as wear-and-tear or recoverable damage is ultimately up to your landlord and the tenancy terms. Many landlords approve once they understand the scale of the work, but get written permission before booking either way.
Are freestanding TV columns stable?
Quality freestanding TV stands are designed for stability — better units carry weighted steel bases and anti-tip cable anchors. We supply and fit units whose manufacturer load rating and stability spec match the TV size in question; we will confirm the specific unit and its specs in writing before the visit.
Can I mount any TV size without drilling?
Freestanding columns are available for TVs up to around 85"/60kg depending on the specific unit — confirmed against your TV before booking. Adhesive mounts typically max out around 30kg (approximately a 50–55" TV) and only on suitable smooth, fully cured painted surfaces. For larger TVs without any drilling, a freestanding solution is usually the more reliable choice.
My landlord said no — what are my options?
A freestanding TV column gives the wall-mounted look without any wall contact whatsoever — the cleanest no-drill option when a wall mount isn't possible. Alternatively, we can help you frame a written request to your landlord that explains the actual impact — two small holes, filled professionally on leaving. Whether they approve is up to them; always get written permission before booking.
Do you charge extra for no-drill installations?
Installation of an adhesive mount or the service element of a freestanding column uses our standard install pricing — see our pricing page for current rates. Freestanding column supply is priced separately. We will give you an exact written estimate once we know your TV size, wall surface, and which solution suits your situation.
How much does no-drill TV mounting cost?
No-drill TV mounting (using approved no-drill brackets) starts from £100. Note: most no-drill solutions only support TVs up to 32"–43"; for larger TVs we recommend a standard install (from £150). See /pricing.
